Movie Editor Marla Diamond Selects National Alliance to End Homelessness as Girlfriends Films’ March Charity

Marla Diamond, a longtime movie editor for Girlfriends Films, selected the National Alliance to End Homelessness as the GFF Charity of the Month. The organization, which campaigns to improve policy, build capacity, and educate opinion leaders, will receive a $1000 donation from Girlfriends Films on behalf of Marla.

“Most of the charities on the list we were given are amazingly worthwhile causes, and it is very difficult to pick just one,” admits Marla. “I have chosen the National Alliance to End Homelessness, as I am so saddened by the fact I see homeless people on the streets almost every day, sometimes mentally ill and / or in bad shape. I believe one of the most basic needs is for each person to have a home and preferably one that is as safe and as comfortable as pos- sible.”

Marla continues, “Although I don’t know much about this charity, it had an A+ rating on CharityWatch.org, and I am sure they will use the donation towards the goal of ending homelessness, as their name implies.”

According to its website, the National Alliance to End Homelessness is a leading voice on federal homelessness policy <http://www.endhomelessness.org/section/policy> . From advocating for improved federal policy to analyzing enacted and proposed legislation, the Alliance actively engages in the legislative process. The Alliance works collab- oratively with public, private, and nonprofit partners to develop, analyze, and advocate for policy solutions to home- lessness.

The Alliance provides capacity-building assistance through its Center for Capacity Building <http://www.endhome- lessness.org/section/aboutus/working_groups/capacity_building> to help communities turn policy solutions and proven best practices into viable, on-the-ground programs. The Alliance provides communities across the country with best practices, how-to kits, and technical assistance trainings to help them implement solutions developed through policy, research, and practice.
